In the beginning...

I'm a crafty kind of girl. So this blog is a place for me to share all the crafty things I attempt, along with an occasional personal anecdote. I tried a blog in the past but just couldn't get into it. I think I was hoping it would turn into a money-making blogging powerhouse, with book deals and personal appearances and all that. What pressure to put on oneself! I was writing for an audience, instead of for myself. This time will be different. This time, I am creating a blog so that I have a place to share my hobbies without bugging all my friends on Facebook who could care less that I just made another thingamajig. This time, I'm not going to worry that my photos are kinda dark, or that my post doesn't contain the right keywords. This time, I'm concentrating on the enjoyment I get out of making something and sharing it with anyone who cares to read along.

With that said, here's what I'm working on now. My mom bought me a jelly roll of the latest line from French General for Moda (thanks mom!). This design was made in Corel Draw, so I just approximated the color and design elements to get the general idea. I wanted to do something a little abstract, and keep the strips mostly in tact so that you can see the designs better. I've already finished piecing the top, I just haven't gotten the images off the camera yet. I'm trying to decide how to quilt it next. I think I'm going to do parallel wavy lines running from bottom left to top right to emphasize the directionality shown in the color progression built into the top. They'll be done in a red thread. Whaddya think?
